The Zendikar Thread
I think this may be the best set in ages for my deck. You know how much I value lands, and this seems like a grand way of playing with them, but we'll see. We'll see.

Re: The Zendikar Thread
I changed the threat title to Zendikar.
Now there's more exciting things to talk about with the super promotion.
What do you think is going to happen to prices? Secondary market insanity?
Abe preordered from SCG at $85 a box. They're now $110. The lowest English box of Zendikar is $120 + shipping right now on ebay.

Re: The Zendikar Thread
So the number crunchers listed the odds of getting the "good card" insert is about 1: 720 packs. That's not particularly high. That's 1 in 20 boxes.
One thing I did learn from the midnight prerelease I went to. Green/White is really strong. Allies are amazing. Removal is at a premium if you aren't playing black. Almost all the rares are playable. I went 3-1 and got 6 extra packs. I'm happy. Foil Arid Mesa and Foil Mindbreak Trap (sold for $50 before I left the store
).
Yeah, play green white. It's good.

Re: The Zendikar Thread
This set looks like pretty good money. There's a couple high priced mythics, the new fetches, the off-hand possibility of treasure.... Seems like one of the best money sets since 10th.

Re: The Zendikar Thread
I didn't do so well at the prerelease (my fist under 7th place), but I did only have 7 mins to build a deck because I was late. In the end it was worth it. I traded for the U/R fetch and the Exile any number of spells trap, all I had to do was get rid of a bunch of crap rares...

Re: The Zendikar Thread
I opened up two boxes today and got 11 fetches, and many repeated rares. It was very odd, whenever I opened up a rare, the next rare of the same color would be the same card. Like, I opened a up a Lotus Cobra, so the next green rare I opened was a Lotus Cobra. Both boxes did this with many cards.

Re: The Zendikar Thread
First Box Report:
Only one duplicate rare, Sphinx of Jwar Isle. I also got a duplicate of my foil rare, but that's normal.
Number of Fetch lands; 4
# of Mythics: 6 - Ob Nixilis, Kalitas, Felidar Sovreign, Nissa Revane, Warren Instigator, Mindbreak Trap
# of Foil Rare - 1, Devout Lightcaster

Re: The Zendikar Thread
Box Two:
# of Duplicate rares: 1 I got two World Quellers, which is great because I want like 17 of them. I also got duplicates of both of my foil rares
# of fetchlands: 3
# of Mythics - 4 - Ob Nixilis x2, Lorthos, Sorin Markov
# of Foil Rares: 2 - Ob Nixilis, Sphinx of Lost Truths
So, less fetches and mythics, but the amazing foil mythic makes up for it. Ob Nixilis foil is hot rihght now. Many think he is the new Rafiq of Many, a highly playable and sought after legendary mythic. and I got one in teh first box and two int eh second, plus one of them foiled. No regrets there. Value-wise, that's better than the average value of a random mythic and fetch land.
Cards I still want for my deck:
Chandra Ablaze
Iona, Shield fo Emeria
Lotus Cobra
Day of Judgment
Roil Elemental

The Good Stuff:
For you budget folks out there, here are gthe good non-rare, non-lands from Zendikar I;m very high on and are immediately inclusions in H&J.
Relic Crush - Destroys, instantly, as naturalize and can get you a s3econd naturalize for free if you want. Quite good because of its flexibility.
Gatekeeper of maliker - edicts are great
Frontier Guide - neverending mana
Expedition map gets you anuy land, not just basics, and is an artifact for any color of deck. Amazing.
Mold Shambler - Common, 3/3, destroys any non-creature, which includes Planeswalkers.
Heartstabber Mosquito - Unlike a lot of other black kjill, this takes out any creature, without any restricion.
Oran-Rief recluse - destroying flyers is gravy, and few have pro-green. the only flyer shtat surviv e- Eesha, Simic Sky Swaller, Pristine, Iridescent, and then some that no one ever plays like Zephid and Cerealn Wyvern.
Kor Catographer 0- CIP land for Whte, awesome
Khalni Heart Expedition - great acceleration and color fixin'.
Explorer's scope - Solid in the right circumstances.
Summoner's bane - Probably one of my favorite four cc counters of all time.
Journery to Nowhere - better than Oublliette
Reckless Scholar - Cephalid Seer for wizards and humans.
Kor Sanctifiers - CIP and Disenchants
Khalni Gem - Fine mana fixin' and helps with landfall.
